The governing new patriotic party (NPP) will kickstart their parliamentary primaries, from the orphan constituencies, referring to constituencies where the party does not have sitting member of Parliament (MP) on 10th September, 2023.
17 out of 137 constituencies will have their elections, some of the regions where the elections will be conducted in their constituencies ,are Greater Accra, Upper East, Western North, Oti Volta, Ashanti etc.
Sole candidates in 17 constituencies will be acclaimed by the party delegates, where the elections will be held.
The director of Research and Election for the New Patriotic Party Mr Evans Niamako wished all the candidates well in the extraordinary delegates conference.
Mr Niamako told daily graphic that the electoral commission will conduct and surpvise the election exercise.
He added that constituencies whereby there is no sole candidates,there will be a consultation with national executives council, regional executives and constituencies executives to determine how the electioneering exercise will be conducted.
He hinted that it will be done in case- by-case means it will be conducted in zonal levels.
The statement was signed and issued by the general secretary of the party, lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua on 6th September,2023, constituencies delegates conference to be held,in constituencies is in accordance with the party constitution in article 7(31).
The vetting of the candidates, with be held in 8th September,2023,in the party’s Regional offices by the Regional election committee, before the main election comes on 10th September,2023, and to ensured that proper measures are put in place.
Where there is no sole candidates, will have it’s elections case-by-case for all parliamentary aspirants who wants to stand on the ticket of the party to contest election 2024, parliamentary election.
The party opened nominations for orphan constituencies on July 11th and ended on 30th August,2023, their elections will start from September and ended at 2nd December,2023.
