The Executive Director for Corruption Combat International, Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem Okogyeabour has raised serious allegations against the chief of Pakyi No 2, Nana Kwadwo Poku over an illegal mining (galamsey) activities going on in the lands of Pakyi in the Ashanti Region.
According to Nana Amoah Okogyeabour, the galamsey activities has been warned by the King of Asante, HRM Otumfour Osei Tutu II to all the chiefs not to allow any person to use a land to do such thing in his land.
In his allegations he added that, Nana Buabasa ,a sub-chief of Asantehene has hands in the bad activities that’s going on in the Pakyi No 1 land by receiving a huge amount of money from the miners and the Pakyi chief. He said, Nana Buabasa has swept the case under the carpet after allegedly collecting the monies.
He stressed that, this illigal mining activity has caused the community to stand still without any development and has caused all the rivers in the area become poisonous and not worthy to use for anything needful.
Also all their agricultural farmlands has been used for galamsey and for that matter, food have become scarcity in the community.
He is therefore appealing to HRM Otumfour Osei Tutu II to step in and deal with them ( Pekyi No 1 chief and Nana Buabasa) accordingly as he has promised to deal with anyone who is caught in such act.
