A member of the Wanderlust Ghana Group who travelled by land from Ghana to Europe has revealed plans to auction an item he used for this monumental expedition.
The Wanderlust Ghana group of 13 adventurous Ghanaians who embarked on a 10,000KM road trip from Accra to London arrived in London on Sunday, August 6, 2023, after days of on-the-road exploring nations and appreciating nature.
Wanderlust Ghana, the organizers of the trip, revealed that they arrived around noon GMT (1:00 pm BST).
The group shared their excitement in a video online, celebrating their historic drive.
They started the expedition of driving from one continent to the other from Accra on Sunday, July 23, 2023, through Aburi, Nsawam, Kumasi, and Sunyani to Dormaa and then entered Cote d’Ivoire via Golokrom.
They started the journey as a group of 12 people and are using five different Ghanaian registered vehicles, a Mercedez Benz G-Wagon, two Toyota Landcruisers (V8), Lexus RX 350, and a Ford F150, Raptor.
In a recent post by Wanderlust on their Facebook page, they showcased a pair of slippers popularly known in Ghanaian parlance as ‘Aka Me Last’ one of the travellers wore for the great road trip.
Reacting to this, one Kormetorkpor made a bid of $500 for pair of slippers of which the money will be donated towards their digitalisation project.
Some Facebook users suggested that the slippers should be placed in a museum to serve tourism purposes.
