Afua Pokua, journalist and radio presenter also known as Vim Lady, believes that if Kennedy Agyapong had decided to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership earlier, he might have posed a significant challenge to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
She suggests that Bawumia has had several years to enhance his standing and appeal within the party, while Kennedy Agyapong made his decision to contest in 2023.
Consequently, she implies that Bawumia’s early investment in his political career has given him an advantage over Agyapong.
“This election, it’s more likely Bawumia will win. You can disagree with me but that is my opinion based on my analysis. Kennedy Agyapong has really done well. Bawumia started marketing himself in 2008, compared to Kennedy Agyapong, who just showed interest.
Kennedy Agyapong has done well in this election. If he had the laxity of Dr. Bawumia, he would have done very well. As of 2019, Kennedy Agyapong hadn’t decided if he would contest so that is what has gone against him. If Ken had decided to contest earlier Ken would have been home and dry by now,” she said.
