Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress,
Bernard Allotey Jacobs has prophesied that Ghana will eventually face God’s vengeance due to the opposition gathered against the building of a National Cathedral.
Allotey Jacobs stated during an appearance on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Monday, November 20, 2023, that the National Cathedral project, which is a religious endeavor, has become excessively politicized, and that this will ultimately result in God punishing the country.
The Ghanaian government’s construction of a National Cathedral has been mired in controversy for a number of reasons, including money, procurement, and priority.
“But Kwame seriously this Cathedral Issue, a religious matter which we have ended up politicising, one day this country will be punished because things of God you don’t put politics into it. If you read Nehemiah and Ezra, you see the end of those who opposed them,” he noted.
A number of the project’s Board of Trustee members, including a few well-known clergymen, have recently resigned, alleging a lack of transparency among other reasons.
