A recent poll conducted by Ghanaweb online indicates that given the situation that a presidential election is held today, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the newly elected flagbearer and leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would emege winner of the elections.
According to results obtained after the poll was conducted, John Dramani Mahama, leader and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), garnered 425,376 votes making 29.95% of the votes while Dr. Bawumia pulled over 772, 225 votes making about 54.37% followed by Alan Kyeremanten with 6%.
This comes after Dr Bawumia defeated a field of three other candidates, including Kennedy Agyapong, the outspoken Assin Central MP, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former Minister for Agriculture and former Mampong MP, Francis Addai-Nimoh.
Certified results announced by a deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission, Dr Serebour Quaicoe, revealed that Dr Bawumia polled 118210 votes representing 61.47% while his closest contender Mr Agyapong polled 71,996 votes representing 37.41%.
