The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II, has profoundly appreciated Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the peace that presently reigns in Dagbon.
At the Manhyia Palace, delegates from the office of the Yaa-Naa acknowledged that Dagbon would have been bedevilled with unrest and fear if not for the timely intervention of Otumfuo.
He expressed gratitude to Otumfuo for depicting what a true leader is and a unifier he is as the township is enjoying peace now.
History has it that Dagombas and Ashantis have a strong historical relationship. In fact when you go to Yendi there is an area in Yendi called kambonsi yili which means Asantes house.
They are Asantes who arrived in Yendi several years ago. Even Today there are so many Asantes in Yendi than any other tribe. Some years back in the 1940s 50s 60s most of the stores in Tamale and Yendi were owned by Asantes. Long live Asante and Dagbong kingdoms.
