Oheneba Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and the Member of Parliament for Akropong Constituency in the Eastern Region on her visit to Asamoah and Yamoah Farms in the Ashanti Region have been impressed with their working capacity and the equipment being used at their facilities.
below is a statement given by the deputy minister after her visit to the facility
As the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, I recently led a delegation to the processing plant of Asamoah & Yamoah Farms – producers of poultry – in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
I was extremely impressed with their facilities and work culture, earning them a contract to produce chicken for KFC, a global fast-food chicken restaurant chain operating in Ghana.
Asamoah & Yamoah Farms has the capacity to produce 20,000 birds daily. With inputs to support their out growers, the facility can maintain its production capacity and increase the tonnage of local poultry in line with the Government’s import substitution initiative. This is in line with the Government’s policy of regulating imports of products we have the capacity as a country to produce.
Let’s believe in our own and give local businesses the chance and necessary support to contribute to economic growth. The government is committed to creating a congenial environment for the private sector, especially local businesses to be the engine of growth.
As a ministry, we will also continue to create opportunities that will give local businesses the chance to compete effectively on the global scale.
