Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale has offered a candid perspective on how Asake has eclipsed all other representatives of Ghanaian music in terms of popularity.
His remarks, while somewhat tongue-in-cheek, reflect a certain level of realism.
During a recent Twitter Space session, Shatta Wale, an award-winning Ghanaian artist, addressed the direct comparison between Ghanaian artists and the Nigerian sensation Asake, raised by the session host.
Shatta Wale emphasized that the YBNL signee should not be measured against Ghanaian artists, including himself, as he considers Asake to be on a level above all the musicians from the Gold Coast.
Despite his status as Ghana’s wealthiest artist, Shatta Wale acknowledges that his ongoing success cannot rival that of Nigeria’s Asake.
“No Ghanaian artiste has even made it like Asaake. Don’t even bring up the Asake point. Not even me [Shatta Wale], nobody, so don’t even bring that. Don’t bring the Asake name,” he said.
