The late investigative journalist Ahmed Suale’s family expressed reservations that Suale would receive justice if Kennedy Agyapong were to win the presidency.
One of the ten contenders vying to be the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer for the 2024 elections is Kennedy Agyapong.
Suale was brought up in recent separate television interviews as part of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign for the presidential primaries in reference to his claimed involvement in the journalist’s killing.
Suale’s family has stated without wavering that the journalist was exposed and killed as a result of Mr. Agyapong publishing Suale’s photo and encouraging anyone who saw him to attack him.
“By his lack of remorse and the frantic defence of his conduct, the family is doubtful that Ahmed would ever get justice under a misfortune where Kennedy Agyapong becomes the president of Ghana,” the family said in a press statement dated August 16, 2023 and signed by Ibrahim Kamilu Tahidu.
The family added, “We are also disappointed that, to date, the Police has not made any progress on the matter. At minimum, we expect the Police to look into the crime of aiding and abetting, and threats of harm where there is plentiful of evidence, all of which was reported to them on a couple of occasions by Ahmed Suale.”
